Natural Spine Position
We believe that when lying flat on a table, more weight is distributed across your back and neck which can generate undue spinal stress. Being upright or seated, however, causes the majority of your weight to be pushed down into the seat, hence, easing pressure on your spine.
When having standard radiation therapy or even a CT scan, lying flat may cause tension, discomfort, even pain. Patients are asked to lie very still, often having to hold their breath for short amounts of time. In cases of recent surgery, injury, or chronic back issues, these moments can be agonizing. Likewise, not being able to actively engage with clinicians during this time can be distressing as well. When patients have cancer, these challenges may be magnified all the more.
At Leo Cancer Care, we are committed to finding better ways of care for patients; ways that can help restore feelings of loss of control, loss of communication with care givers, even loss of dignity. Sitting upright for treatment is both physically and emotionally empowering. We enhance this by employing a specialized bean bag which adjusts to each patient’s shape, adding support and stabilization. Finally, a comfortable abdominal belt adds security and safety, encouraging patients to relax, rest, and de-stress.
Please Note: The Leo Cancer Care technology is not available to treat patients until the required regulatory approval is achieved.
